Successful sailaway: 18 TPs for Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project for Dominion Energy
MS Sunrise once again departed from Aalborg, Denmark. This time, the ship was loaded with 18 TPs - an all-time high number of transition pieces.
“It was great. It was a good milestone we achieved here. It’s the first time we loaded 18 TPs onto a ship, and it went really well - just as planned. The operation took place from 6am to midnight every day, over the course of three days. The weather has been good, there was no wind at all, and that’s of course what allowed us to do it in three days. A big thank you to the whole team for the great effort.”
Thank you to all our colleagues and collaboration partners for helping us achieve this great milestone.
The transition pieces are up to 26.6 meters high and 7.5 meters in diameter. Each element weighs approx. 570 tons.
Once the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind farm is complete, it will provide energy for up to 660,000 homes.
