Apprentices from Norway visit CS WIND Offshore: New professional perspectives - and cultural adventures

For a couple of weeks, Norwegian Ingrid Lillevold Haugjord and Jørgen Ruud-Herseth have been in Aalborg on an exchange with CS WIND Offshore as part of their education.

“It’s really good here - they are skilled within HSE. We have received the equipment we need, and we have been given fall protection. The work is very exciting, and we have been allowed to participate in various tasks - for example, the electrical part, and Upending - I have already gained a good professional insight. ”

Ingrid is training to become an electrician back in Norway, and Jørgen is training to become an industrial mechanic.

They live in Mo i Rana, where their educational institution is located, and they work for the company MOMEK Group.

“My first impression of the company is that people enjoy going to work. You are in a team that collaborates towards a common goal, which makes everyday life social and meaningful. The workplace is tidy and well-organized. I might be in a slightly different profession, as we mostly deal with the maintenance of already used parts and machines. Nevertheless, I have learned a lot about new installations, and gained insight into the ‘offshore world,’ which I can take with me.”

The Norwegians were supposed to come down to us first - they have board and lodging at Tech College, which facilitates the collaboration we have with MOMEK Group. It makes it really easy.

CS WIND Offshore will send two of our apprentices to Norway at the beginning of next year - they will become part of Momek, and gain insight into their own fields while they are there.

We are looking forward to it, and Hans Ole Sannes, Apprentice Responsible with CS WIND Offshore explains:

“You learn to navigate in other places - there is always a bit of cultural confusion, but it always falls into place. It has also been the case this time - they are really happy to be here.”

This week, Morten Loftfjell, Head of HR from MOMEK Group (image left), visited us to see how CSWO run our apprentice school. In Norway, it is very different - here, apprentices go to school for the first two years before joining a company.

“This ‘exchange with abroad’ gives young people a lot – as a young person, you are adventurous. Instead of doing the same thing, they get small inputs from other places. It can expand their imagination by trying something different - even within the same field. ”
