First transition piece load out for Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind completed
April 24, at 23:35, MV Sun Rise left the quay side of CS WIND Offshore in Aalborg loaded with 6 transition pieces for Dominion Energy’s CVOW-project in the US.
This concluded the first load out, which was a huge success for all involved.
- Everyone at the quayside did a really good job, which we all can be proud of. For the individual project team member, the first load out is an extremely important milestone. It is the physical evidence of completion of a huge task, in this case, that started for real in September 2022. We now know, we can deliver in accordance with the client’s and their designer’s specifications and expectations, says Torben Knud Christensen, VP, TP & Secondary Steel, CS WIND Offshore.
The vessel is currently in the North Sea. Next stop will be Hampton Roads on the east coast of USA. Depending on weather conditions, the trip has a distance between 4000 NM (via Cape Race) to 6100 NM (via Las Palmas – Bahamas). With current speed of 10,4 knots, the trip will be done within 16 to 24 days.
The vessel is set to return to CS WIND Offshore in approximately 40-45 days to pick up 9 transition pieces.
CS WIND Offshore will supply a total of 176 transition pieces to the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project being established some 40 kilometers off the Virginia U.S. East Coast.
