First transition pieces painted for Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind

It is Henrik's job to ensure the painting and thus also the surface treatment of the transition pieces. This month, we reached one of the milestones of the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project for our customer Dominion Energy; The first painted TP.

The project has started on schedule, and we now have three painted transition pieces out of a total of 176 transition pieces that will be delivered for the USA in the coming years.

The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project is the largest TP contract ever for Bladt Industries. The project is expected completed in September 2025.

Henrik Jensen has been employed at Bladt for 25 years as head of department, and now as Senior Manager. The work tasks have been many over the years, and he has seen the workplace change, and the tasks have changed too. Henrik's primary tasks are project management, tendering, preparation of coating manuals and procedures for customers as well as financial management of large projects, such as this one.

The TPs are now stored on site at Aalborg Port, Denmark, ready for further processing.

Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Farm will be established some 40 kilometers off the Virginia U.S. East Coast. Once the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Farm is complete, it will provide energy for up to 660,000 homes.

The transition pieces are up to 26.6 meters high and 7.5 meters in diameter. Each element weighs approx. 570 tons.
