At Job Day, we discussed job opportunities with 18 inmates at Kragskovhede. Opportunities such as unskilled laborer, blacksmith, welder, or fitter. But the list could go on, as we are a workplace with more than 1,500 employees, and job titles that span both production and office - and the possibility of further education through our own shop floor trainers. But it requires a drug-free life and a willingness to contribute in a workplace.
Job Day at Kragskovhede Prison, Denmark
On October 23, CS WIND Offshore once again joined Job Day at the Kragskovhede prison at the top of Denmark. The day was facilitated by High:five in collaboration with the Danish Prison and Probation Service.
There is an invisible fence around the open part of Kragskovhede Prison. Signs on the lawn; this far and no further. And, otherwise, a view of the beautiful North Jutland landscape 🍂
On October 23, CS WIND Offshore once again joined Job Day meeting at the Kragskovhede prison, situated in the natural area between Frederikshavn and Skagen at the top of Denmark.
The day was facilitated by High:five in collaboration with the Danish Prison and Probation Service (Kriminalforsorgen).
Opportunities on the outside
“You can see the light in their eyes on Job Days, where companies show up and talk about the opportunities with them. There are actually people who believe in them, despite their criminal record,” explains Trine Skibelund Jespersgaard, Senior Consultant at High:five.
CS WIND Offshore has collaborated with High:five for the past five years, and we currently have six employees in regular job positions. All have come through our constructive collaboration with High:five👋
The word that permeated the day was opportunities. Something Dekra and Give Steel also emphasized.
Dekra offers upskilling in areas such as large driving licenses or forklift certificates. And Give Steel has a welding course trailer inside the prison, where interested inmates can learn the different welding methods and test their skills with courses in, for example, TIG or MIG and MAG welding👨🏭👩🏽🏭
“Employees with us do not come from out of nowhere. We need to be open to all opportunities.”
Morten Falck Sørensen, Group Lead at CS WIND Offshore, who has also previously attended Job Day at Kragskovhede, agrees: “We want to show that there are opportunities. This is the short way, and the quick way to a job. As a company, we want to commit ourselves, and we go far to retain an employee – but we also demand something from them.”
High:five has just been granted additional funds this week. They can now look several years into the future, where they can continue their good work for young people on the edge of society🙏
We congratulate High:five on the good news this week, and hope that we can inspire other companies to take this route in recruiting employees, and support this social effort.
