Upending of Sandbank jacket
Friday morning 9 October, Bladt Industries finally had "the wind at its back" which made it possible to go through with the upending of the jacket foundation for the topside for the Sandbank Offshore Wind Farm project.
At Bladt’s quay in Aalborg, the 96 metres tall crane easily upended the two sides for the jacket each weighing 525 tonnes. Once both sides were in upright position, they were joined together with remaining bracings and the cellar deck. During the next many weeks, all the joints will be welded together.
Bladt’s scope of the project consists of engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI contract) of the 1,700 tonnes jacket, the four piles with a total weight of 1,050 tonnes and the topside with a total weight of 2,350 tonnes.
